Crowd sourcing Production

Crowd sourcing involves people all around the world. What draws me to participate in a crowd sourcing  project is the goal and the purpose. For my crowd sourcing project production I chose to create a place where the nearest and dearest in our society can be recognized: senior citizens, also known as old people or the elderly. Recently having lost my grandfather I have both a sad and happy feeling when I see the elderly out and about, and I no longer get frustrated when I drive behind them. WeLoveOldPeople.com is here to show the world how truly wonderful old people are. Whether it is an image that is cute, funny or a tribute to a loved ones memory, photos accompanied by a caption or blurb about the image are welcomed into the gallery following their appearance on the senior spotlight. This is not only a way for those who are delighted by old people to be able to capture and share remarkable moments, but as an opportunity for myself to allow the memory of those who have passed living on.

Crowd sourcing and Participative Systems Reading Questions

Question 1: Are we as human being more interested in art that we can interact with, or furthermore participate with? Does this feeling of being involved attract us to these pieces more than others that do not do this?

Question 2: Since crowd sourcing is a collage effort using the contributions of other people and their creations, would the artist be considered the "director" and the participants the artists? Why or why not?

YouTube Video Mixer

For my YouTube mixer I wanted to create something that personally affects me. The one thing I hate the most is the fear of being in a car accident, and I know that I am not alone when it comes to this. Everyday when we get in our cars we risk being in an accident, especially when we act risky behind the wheel. Accidents happen everyday whether we like them or not.

Manovich Reading Questions

Q1: If new media cannot be separated from old media then why would it not be considered or called transformed media if that is what it essentially is?

Q2: Does interactive media draw in the user differently than media which is not? Does it matter if the interactive is open or closed or does interactive in general operate in the same way to the viewer?
